Racks compacts

For a small gym, compare rack depth, height and whether the rack must remain permanently open. The 1 Series Compact Rack and 3 Series Compact Rack use a 1.2m width and 0.8m depth, while the 5 Series Compact Rack also uses a 1.2m x 0.8m rack footprint with 2.3m or 2.5m height options for performance environments.

The rack footprint is only the fixed equipment area. Leave enough space in front and behind for the barbell, bench and exercise, plus side clearance to load plates. For a compact rack, plan the room around the full 7ft bar and the movements you will perform rather than the 1.2m rack width alone.

Leave enough headroom to complete the pull-up movement above the bar, not just enough to fit the rack itself. The required clearance varies by user height and pull-up style, so measure the ceiling obstruction and select the rack height accordingly; avoid placing the pull-up bar tight against the ceiling.

Yes. The 1 Series Compact Rack can be configured with integrated cable columns in the same 1.2m x 0.8m base footprint, while 3 and 5 Series compact racks can use NEXUS upgrades and compatible storage. Any added plates or storage still need loading clearance around the rack.

A compact rack keeps a full rack-style lifting station in a shorter depth, but provides less internal working depth and storage than larger racks. A full rack gives more enclosed space and expansion options; a folding rack frees the most floor area between sessions but needs a suitable wall and a setup/fold-down step each time.

Fixing depends on the compact rack. 5 Series racks require wall or floor bolting for safe use, while other compact and freestanding models have different anchoring requirements. Use the exact installation guide for the rack rather than treating “compact” as an installation type.

Only use a shorter bar if its rackable shaft section safely spans the J-Hooks. The BLK BOX Stinger Bar is specifically noted as not compatible with standard rigs and racks, so a shorter overall bar does not automatically solve a small-room rack setup.

Compact racks still support standard bench positions for pressing when the bench dimensions and bar position fit the station. Check the bench length, pad height and the rack’s depth before assuming every incline or decline angle can be set comfortably inside a shallow frame.

Loaded projection depends on the storage peg and the thickness of the plate stack. Utility Pegs fit 1, 3 and 5 Series racks, so allow clearance for both the attachment and your actual plates rather than the rack footprint alone.

Use the safety equipment designed for the exact rack series. Current attachment ranges include series-specific spotting arms and other safety options; confirm the compatible safety product and whether it is included in the rack price before ordering.

Many compact racks are delivered flat-packed, which makes restricted doorway access easier than moving an assembled frame. Measure the largest packaged or frame component and the route into the room, then assemble in the final training space.

Add the rack, J-Hooks, required safeties and any mandatory fixings before comparing total price. Cable columns, storage, plate pegs and other attachments should be added separately if your chosen compact rack does not include them in the base configuration.
