Frequently Asked Questions

Should I store barbells vertically or on a wall rack?

Use vertical storage when you need to hold several bars in a small footprint and have enough overhead clearance to lift each bar in and out. Use a wall rack when you want the floor kept clear and the wall can take the required fixings. We offer wall hangers, rack-mounted holders and freestanding five and nine bar options.

Will a storage holder fit my Olympic and speciality bars?

The freestanding 9-Bar Holder is designed for Olympic and speciality bars, while the 5-Bar Vertical Holder also accommodates standard and speciality bars. Trap bars are better suited to the dedicated wall-mounted hex-bar hanger rather than assuming they will fit a standard vertical tube.

How much clearance do I need to remove a stored barbell?

Allow enough vertical or horizontal clearance to remove the entire bar without contacting the ceiling, wall or neighbouring equipment. The required clearance depends on the bar length and storage orientation, so position the holder using your longest bar rather than the footprint of the storage unit alone.

How many bars can this storage unit hold?

Capacity is model-specific. We offer a freestanding 9-Bar Holder, a 5-Bar Vertical Holder, a wall-mounted hanger in 1,2,3 and 4-bar versions, and other wall or rack-mounted options.

What wall fixings are required for this barbell hanger?

Wall fixings depend on the wall construction and hanger model. Use suitable structural fixings for the substrate and confirm the fixing method before loading a wall-mounted barbell hanger.

What prevents the holder from marking the bar's finish?

The wall-mounted barbell hanger uses protective inserts where the bar contacts the hanger, helping reduce marking on the bar finish during storage. Use dedicated bar storage rather than bare steel hooks if finish protection is a priority.

Will a trap bar or safety squat bar fit in this holder?

Use the storage product intended for the bar shape. The 9-Bar Holder can take speciality and Olympic bars, while a hex or trap bar is better matched to the dedicated wall-mounted hex-bar hanger. Safety squat bars should be checked against the opening and handle geometry before choosing a vertical holder.

What floor area does a freestanding bar holder occupy?

Footprint depends on the holder. The Floor Mounted 9 Bar Holder is 520×450mm, while the 5 Bar Vertical Holder is 1000×1000mm. Allow extra room to lift barbells vertically.

Does the freestanding holder need to be anchored?

The Floor Mounted 9 Bar Holder can stand freely and can also be bolted down for extra security. Check each freestanding barbell storage products individually before ordering.

Does the price include all mounting hardware?

Mounting hardware is not stated as universally included across wall-mounted barbell storage. Check the exact listing and allow for suitable wall fixings if they are not supplied.

Can the holder sit beside my rack without obstructing bar loading?

Yes, provided the bar can be removed and loaded without colliding with the rack, plates or nearby wall. Plan the layout around the full bar length and plate-loading area, not just the storage footprint, and keep the most frequently used bars accessible without crossing an active lifting station.

Which storage option fits the number of bars I own without unnecessary capacity?

Match capacity to your current bars plus realistic near-term growth. A wall hanger is efficient for one to four bars, a 5 Bar Vertical Holder suits a small collection, and the 9 Bar Holder adds more capacity without committing to wall mounting.
