Why choose BLK BOX?

Built for HYROX Classes

HYROX is one of the fastest-growing formats in fitness, and members expect a space that feels like race day. We've designed and equipped HYROX training areas for independent gyms, CrossFit boxes and global brands.

Every layout is designed in-house around how your classes actually run - where the sleds go, how athletes move between stations and how many of each station you need to keep a full class moving.

From custom-branded turf and plates to full installation, we handle the equipment, the flooring and the fit-out, so your HYROX space looks premium and performs from day one.

Equipment for Every HYROX Station

A HYROX race combines 8 x 1km runs with eight workout stations. We specify, supply and install the equipment for each one - and design the space so athletes can move between them without queues or crossed paths.

  • 1. SkiErg

1,000m on a ski machine. Wall-mounted and free-standing options to suit your layout.

  • 2. Sled Push

50m of heavy pushing. Needs a durable turf lane and a sled built to take daily class volume.

  • 3. Sled Pull

50m of hand-over-hand rope pulling. We plan sleds, ropes and lane space together.

  • 4. Burpee Broad Jumps

80m of burpee broad jumps. Long, open turf lanes keep the movement safe and consistent.

  • 5. Rowing

1,000m on the rower. Grouped with your ski machines for quick, clean transitions.

  • 6. Farmers Carry

200m carrying a pair of kettlebells. Stocked in every race weight, with storage close to the lane.

  • 7. Sandbag Lunges

100m of walking lunges with a sandbag across the shoulders.

  • 8. Wall Balls

100 reps to a target. Wall balls and wall ball targets sized for your class numbers.

Designing Your HYROX Training Space

HYROX classes move fast, so the space has to move with them. Every HYROX gym layout we design is built around three things:

Sled lanes - sled push and pull need long, uninterrupted turf lanes (competition lanes are 12.5m) with room to turn and reset. Short on space? We design shorter and shared lanes that still train the movement properly.

Station flow - stations are arranged so athletes transition cleanly, with ski machines and rowers grouped together and kit stored next to where it's used.

Class size - we work out how many of each station to duplicate so a full class can rotate without queues.

You'll see the full layout as a detailed render before anything is built. Want to know what to avoid? Read the biggest mistake in HYROX gym design.

  • Build and Installation

Once approved, we manufacture, deliver and install your equipment and turf, so your HYROX space is ready to train in from day one.

HYROX Gym Design FAQs

What equipment does a HYROX gym need?

To train all eight HYROX stations you'll need ski machines, rowers, weight sleds (for both push and pull), kettlebells for farmers carries, sandbags, wall balls with targets, and a turf area for sleds and burpee broad jumps. Most gyms also add treadmills or a running route for the 1km runs. We'll specify the right quantities for your class sizes and supply everything in one order.

How much space do I need for a HYROX area?

It depends on your class sizes and whether you want full-length sled lanes. Competition sled lanes are 12.5m, but we regularly design shorter or shared lanes for smaller spaces that still train every station properly. Send us your floor plan and we'll show you what fits.

Can we run HYROX sessions in our current facility - isn’t it the same as functional training?

HYROX needs clear movement lanes, specific stations and enough space to keep athletes moving without congestion. A general functional training layout often leads to bottlenecks and safety risks once a full class is running. We design the space specifically with HYROX in mind, so classes run smoothly and feel professional.

Do you need specialist flooring for HYROX?

Regular turf wears out fast under sleds and heavy conditioning work. It becomes slower and inconsistent over time, posing safety risks. We install turf designed with this in mind so you get reliable resistance, longer lifespan and a better overall experience for your members.

How do we cope with busy classes?

We design with flow in mind. This means that we ensure there is the correct spacing, duplicate stations (where needed) and smooth transitions between movements. It keeps classes organised, reduces waiting time and improves your sessions.

Will a HYROX area make the gym look cluttered?

No chance. With years of experience in facility design, we can combine performance with clean, branded finishes and integrated storage. Your facility will look premium, designed and aligned with your identity while meeting HYROX standards.

Can you help us become a HYROX Training Club?

HYROX runs its own Training Club programme, and gyms apply directly through HYROX. We can help you get the space and equipment in place so your facility is ready, and design it so it looks and runs like a dedicated HYROX venue.
