Dumbbells

Choose by exercise rather than a single number. Lateral raises and other isolation work need light dumbbells, while presses, rows and Romanian deadlifts need noticeably heavier pairs, so most people use more than one weight. Pick a load you can control for every rep of your planned sets with good form, then move up when the top of your rep range feels manageable. BLK BOX dumbbells run from 0.5kg Studio Vinyl and 1kg urethane up to 60kg Rubber Hex and 75kg Premium Urethane, with Rubber Hex in 2.5kg steps and 12 Sided Urethane in 1kg steps up to 10kg, so you can progress in small increments.

The range depends on dumbbell style. Rubber Hex Dumbbell Sets are available in 1–10kg and 2.5–30kg, 2.5–40kg and 2.5–50kg set options; urethane and micro-urethane ranges use different increments. Choose a family that gives the progression you need now and at the top end of the set.

Choose the rack from the dumbbell style, weight range and number of pairs. Round and hex dumbbells use different shelf profiles and capacities; Basecamp offers dedicated round- and hex-dumbbell shelves, while complete dumbbell racks are also available for larger matched sets.

For a home gym, Rubber Hex Dumbbells are a practical choice because the hex heads resist rolling and the rubber reduces noise and floor contact. If you want a harder-wearing commercial finish, urethane dumbbells are the stronger option.

Rubber hex dumbbells use flat-sided heads that resist rolling, making them practical for home gyms and functional training. Round Premium Urethane Dumbbells use a durable coating and suit commercial or high-performance environments where finish, repeated handling and a full matched range are higher priorities, while the 12 Sided Urethane range adds an anti-roll profile.

Sale format varies. Individual dumbbells and complete sets are both available, so check the product title and variant carefully. For example, Rubber Hex Dumbbell Sets are sold as complete paired sets covering defined weight ranges rather than as one dumbbell per listed set weight.

Handle dimensions are product-specific. Rubber Hex Dumbbells use 25mm handles from 2.5kg to 12.5kg and 35mm handles from 15kg to 60kg, chrome-plated and knurled; other dumbbell families can use different grip diameters and handle shapes, so compare the exact specification where grip size matters.

Set contents depend on the selected range. The Rubber Hex 1–10kg set contains 10 pairs; 2.5–30kg contains 12 pairs; 2.5–40kg contains 16 pairs; and 2.5–50kg contains 20 pairs. Check the current variant before ordering because other dumbbell families use different weight sequences.

Use resilient rubber gym flooring under dumbbell training and storage, especially where weights may be set down repeatedly. Choose thickness from the expected impact level and subfloor protection requirement rather than from the dumbbell coating alone.

Calculate the combined rack footprint and working access, not just the dumbbells themselves. Storage dimensions depend on the selected rack and weight range, and heavier or larger dumbbells can require more shelf length than the same number of lighter pairs.

For a busy commercial gym, prioritise dumbbells positioned for repeated commercial use, such as premium urethane ranges, with storage that protects the heads and keeps pairs easy to identify. Rubber Hex remains suitable for many mixed home and commercial uses, but choose from the stated product suitability rather than material name alone.

Yes, if the selected dumbbell family is still available in the heavier weights you need. Choose a consistent range at the beginning if you expect to expand, then add matching pairs as required rather than mixing different handle and head profiles without a reason.

Large dumbbell sets may be shipped as multiple parcels or as a larger consignment depending on total size and weight. Ensure the delivery point can accept the consignment and plan how the dumbbells will be moved from the drop point to their final storage position.

Adjustable dumbbells save space and money for home gyms, offering multiple weights in one set. Fixed weight dumbbells are faster to use and more durable for commercial gyms or serious lifters who need quick weight changes.

How to Choose the Best Dumbbells

No gym setup is complete without a solid set of dumbbells. Whether you’re building strength, improving conditioning, or refining your technique, dumbbells are one of the most versatile pieces of kit in any training environment.

From home gyms and PT studios to large commercial facilities, the right dumbbells can elevate every workout, offering durability, comfort, and performance for athletes at every level.

What to Look for When Buying Dumbbells

Dumbbell Durability and Quality

Look for dumbbells built from high-grade materials that can handle repeated drops, heavy use, and long-term wear. Urethane and rubber coatings add protection for both the dumbbell and your flooring.

Dumbbell Grip and Comfort

A well-designed handle ensures a secure grip even during high-intensity workouts. Knurled or contoured handles improve control, helping prevent slippage.

Dumbbell Weight Range and Progression

Choose a set that suits your training goals. Lighter dumbbells (1–10kg) are ideal for conditioning or rehab work, while heavier options support strength and hypertrophy training.

Dumbbell Design and Storage

High-quality finishes, consistent sizing, and sleek designs contribute to a professional gym look. Compact shapes also allow for efficient storage.
