When Fit & Food set out to create their boutique training space in Chiswick, London, the brief was clear. Coaching comes first. Everything else, the layout, the equipment, the flow of the floor, had to serve that principle.

The Vision

Fit & Food is a boutique training space offering semi private personal training and small group classes rooted in expert coaching, strong community, and considered design. The goal was never to build a gym that impresses on first look and fades after that. It was to build an environment where members feel supported, recognised, and trained with purpose, regardless of experience level.

That meant the facility had to work hard. It needed to support semi private coaching and small group training simultaneously, while allowing for individualised programming within a shared environment. Every square foot had to earn its place.

The Build

The gym was designed to deliver 4:1 semi private personal training alongside small group classes capped at 12 members. The layout prioritises open floor space, allowing coaches to move freely, provide hands-on guidance, and maintain a high standard of coaching without compromising member comfort or confidence.

At the heart of the space, two 3 Series racks face each other across the floor. Both are built out for strength training and both have integrated storage throughout. But each one serves a distinct function, giving coaches and members two fully loaded stations with different training capabilities built into the same system.

This is the 3 Series doing exactly what it was designed to do. One decision that anchors the strength floor, the storage, and the programming flow. Two configurations. Unlimited versatility.

Rack one: cable work and conditioning

On one side sits a bespoke 3 Series Compact Nexus Rack with integrated storage and cable functionality built directly into the system. The cable integration keeps resistance-based work contained within the rig rather than requiring a separate cable machine taking up its own floor space. This is a significant advantage in a boutique facility where every metre of open floor supports the coaching model.

The rack also features Mounted Wall Ball Targets, bringing wall ball work directly onto the system without additional wall fixings or standalone targets cluttering the space. Alongside the cable station, this makes rack one a conditioning and strength hub that handles everything from loaded carries and cable pulls to squats, presses, and wall ball conditioning within a single unified setup.

Integrated storage keeps Barbells, HD Bumper Plates, and accessories within reach during sessions, supporting smooth transitions without disrupting coaching flow.

Rack two: gymnastics and functional fitness

Facing it across the floor is a 3 Series Compact Rack built out for gymnastics and functional fitness work. Fitted with a Climbing Rope and Competition Gym Rings, this rack brings bodyweight and skill-based training into the same system as the strength work, without adding standalone rigs or additional floor fixtures.

Like rack one, it's still a fully capable strength station with integrated storage for Rubber Hex Dumbbells, Competition Kettlebells, Wall Balls, and Cable Attachments on the system where they belong. The rack handles barbell strength work, pull-ups, and loaded movements just as effectively as it handles ring work and rope climbs.

Together, the two rigs form the backbone of the gym. Coaches can run simultaneous stations with different programming demands across both racks, keeping sessions structured and members moving without the need for additional equipment spread across the floor.

The wider fit out

Surrounding the two rigs, the wider equipment selection was built around versatility, durability, and scalability. A clean floor is a professional floor, and every piece has a place.

This gives coaches the flexibility to adapt sessions to individual needs while maintaining a cohesive group training experience, supporting goal specific, progressive training across both semi private and group formats and accommodating a wide range of abilities.

The Result

The finished space reflects the Fit & Food philosophy in both feel and function.

Members train in an environment that feels calm and organised. The two facing rigs create a natural structure to the floor without closing it off, giving coaches clear sightlines across the space and members clear access to two distinct training stations. The integrated storage across both racks keeps equipment off the floor and in the right place, allowing sessions to flow without interruption.

The versatility of the setup allows Fit & Food to deliver progressive, long term training that evolves with each individual. Strength, conditioning, gymnastics, cable work. All of it available. All of it organised. All of it on the system.

The gym supports a coaching-led experience where members receive a high level of attention, clarity, and care, whether training in a semi private or small group setting. It's an environment built for performance, connection, and sustainable progress.

That's what a considered equipment setup makes possible. Not just a gym that looks good. A gym that works.
