Inside the Build: Danny Rae's Home Gym
When HYROX®* athlete Danny Rae moved into his new home, one of his top priorities was creating a training space that would help him perform at his best. With limited space available, the challenge was to design a compact, efficient home gym that could support the full range of equipment from strength work to endurance and conditioning.
Partnering with Danny, we designed a versatile setup that aligns with his performance goals and meets the demands of competition racing, all within the compact footprint of his home gym.
The Space

Every piece of equipment in Danny’s gym was selected to maximise functionality without compromising on quality or performance.
The setup covers every aspect of Danny’s training, featuring all the key competition elements including Competition Sandbags, Competition Kettlebells, Competition Sleds, Competition Ropes, Wall Balls, Wall Mounted Wall Ball Target, Concept 2 SkiErg, Rower and the Woodway 4Front Treadmill. To complement his setup, Danny included a 1 Series Half Rack, Utility Adjustable Bench, Utility Bar, Utility Bumpers, HD Change Plates and a full set of Hex Dumbbells, providing everything he needs for focused strength work.
For storage, the 4 Tier Basecamp System was chosen for its sleek design and ability to keep equipment organised and accessible. The space is finished with Challenger Tiles, providing a durable and high-performance flooring solution.
The setup allows Danny to train with purpose and efficiency, moving easily between strength, power and conditioning work as he pushes towards the Elite 15.
The Result

Competition racing demands a unique blend of endurance and strength. Danny’s setup supports everything from heavy sled pushes and pulls to functional movements like barbell squats and wall balls. The inclusion of the SkiErg, Rower and Woodway 4Front Runner means his conditioning work mirrors competition demands, while the 1 Series Half Rack, Utility Bar and Adjustable Bench provide reliable support for foundational lifts and accessory work.
Danny Rae’s home gym shows what’s possible when design and purpose align. With a clear training goal and the right equipment, he’s built a space that’s not just about fitness, it’s about performance at the highest level.
