Inside the Build: Method Oakham

Method, based in Oakham, offers a focused space built for progress, with sessions capped at 4 to 6 people to maintain clarity, attention and consistent progression.

Method approached BLK BOX with a clear ambition. They wanted to improve the training experience through an intimate small group model that delivers expert guidance, accountability and a complete wellness approach for long term strength and vitality.

The Brief

Our task was to translate that ambition into a space that reflects modern training values and supports sustainable, results driven fitness. The vision centred on creating an environment that prioritises small group personal training and reformer Pilates, giving members the structure and support needed to grow with confidence.

Every detail, from the equipment to the layout, was considered to enhance coaching quality, movement capability and member experience. This brief set the foundation for a training space where individuals feel guided, challenged and able to progress with purpose.

The Install

Bringing Method to life meant ensuring every element of the space worked with intention. Each component was chosen to enhance movement and support coaching flow, creating a space that feels deliberate and easy to work within. The installation process focused on durability, function and training versatility, allowing the studio to operate with clarity and purpose.

Flooring

Method selected Challenger Tiles for their excellent shock and noise absorption. The high impact design is made from recycled rubber and finished with an antistatic layer to prevent static build up during use. Durable and resilient, the tiles withstand heavy use, making them suited to a high energy training environment.

To complement this surface, Method also incorporated custom Agility Turf with integrated markings to support conditioning work and dynamic movement training.

Racks & Strength Equipment 

The training space features an 8 bay custom branded 5 Series Stainless Steel Nexus Compact Combo Rack, designed for efficient floor use. A range of attachments and Custom Wall Ball Targets expand training versatility and support varied strength work.

Free weights include Hex Dumbbells, Cast Iron Kettlebells and HD Bumper Plates, chosen for their durability and capacity to progress load. Strength kit was selected for reliability and progressive loading, with Belfast Bars providing smooth performance across all main lifts. The equipment offering is further strengthened with a 45 Degree Leg Press Machine, adding variety for lower body strength development and hypertrophy focused training.

Accessories & Storage 

Additional kit includes 4 Tier Basecamp Storage units and a Floor Mounted 9 Bar Holder, keeping equipment organised, accessible and the training space clear. Adjustable Benches support a wide range of strength movements, while a Dog Sled adds further conditioning and power training options.

The Result

Method Oakham now stands as a refined training environment where coaching quality is prioritised, space flows with purpose and members are supported to train with intention. The layout, equipment choices and considered design elements work together to create a space that feels both high performance and human centred.

Small group training runs with purpose, giving coaches space to observe movement, advance strength and support members with meaningful attention. Members train in an environment that builds confidence, supports consistency and reflects a modern approach to wellness and performance.
