The Details

The Concept 2 SkiErg is a precision engineered Nordic skiing machine from the makers of the industry’s most trusted indoor rowers. Adapting key rowing machine elements like flywheel resistance and a state-of-the-art PM5 Performance Monitor, the SkiErg turns the athlete’s orientation vertical, simulating the movements of real cross-country skiing with both double-pole and classic alternating arm technique. These movements offer one of the most challenging strengths and endurance tests available in a fitness machine, targeting the legs, arms, and core for a full body workout adaptable to any athlete’s size and skill level.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Concept 2 SkiErg & Floor Stand

What is a SkiErg machine?

A SkiErg machine is a piece of cardio equipment designed to simulate the motion of Nordic skiing. It provides a full-body, low-impact workout that primarily targets the upper body, core, and legs. Users pull down on two handles in a smooth, rhythmic motion — similar to double-poling on skis — making it ideal for building strength, endurance, and aerobic fitness.

The most popular model is the Concept2 SkiErg, which uses a flywheel resistance system and a PM5 performance monitor to track metrics like pace, calories, and distance. It’s widely used by athletes, CrossFitters, and general fitness enthusiasts as an effective alternative to rowing machines or treadmills, offering intense workouts with minimal impact on the joints.

The SkiErg can be wall-mounted or paired with a floor stand, making it suitable for gyms, studios, or home training setups.

What muscles does the SkiErg work?

The SkiErg targets your upper body, core, and lower body. It works the lats, shoulders, triceps, abs, obliques, glutes, hamstrings, and more, delivering a full-body, low-impact workout.

How to Use a SkiErg?

Stand facing the SkiErg with feet shoulder-width apart and grip the handles with both hands above your head. Begin by pulling the handles down powerfully, bending slightly at the hips and knees. Drive your hands past your hips in a smooth, controlled motion, engaging your core, back, and arms.

Return your arms to the top position steadily, maintaining good posture throughout. Avoid using just your arms — the power should come from your full body, especially your core and lats. The harder you pull, the more resistance you create, thanks to the flywheel system.

Use the PM5 monitor to track time, strokes per minute, calories, and distance. It’s great for interval training, endurance work, or low-impact cardio. The SkiErg can be mounted on a wall or used with a floor stand for flexibility.

What muscles does the Concept 2 SkiErg work?

The Concept2 SkiErg provides a full-body workout, primarily targeting the upper body, core, and legs. It works the lats, triceps, shoulders, and forearms during the pull, while the abdominals and obliques engage to stabilize the torso. The glutes, hamstrings, and quads support the downward drive, making it an effective tool for building both strength and endurance.

The Rolls Royce of Conditioning Equipment

You can't go wrong with any Concept product and this is no expectation. It's pretty indestructible and if you think about it there's no setup friction that you have to get ready for - like pedal straps. Just stand there and pull.

In comparison to other conditioning devices, it's up there with the sled (which is equally as fun), more fun than the rower (if you must) and definitely more fun than the assault bike (if you're into masochism).

Recommend to get the additional stand. It's a very stable device with it and it will hide/collect all the inevitable puddles of sweat.

Also Recommended: A towel. About 3 litres of water at hand. A fan. A mop. And finally a designated area to collapse into.

You'll be making sweat angels in no time.
