Inside the Build: The Running Room

The Running Room is a specialist physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic with locations in Australia and London, recognised for its expertise in treating running and sports injuries.

The Running Room Physiotherapy Battersea takes a performance-based approach to rehab, helping runners get out of pain, move better and return to their best. They deliver hands on treatment, strength and conditioning and tailored rehab plans that support recovery, boost performance and keep athletes injury free.

Designing a Clinic with Purpose

When The Running Room began planning their new Battersea facility, they partnered with BLK BOX to create a space that reflected their rehab and performance ethos. The aim was to develop an environment that supported precise movement analysis alongside the full spectrum of strength and conditioning needed for effective running rehab.

The physiotherapists behind the clinic were clear on what the space needed to achieve. They wanted a layout that enabled one to one work, combined hands on treatment with targeted training, and offered room to move as freely as athletes need to. The goal was open space for running mechanics and defined strength zones that would keep sessions flowing with purpose and precision.

The Build

Utility Flooring was installed throughout, for durability and suitability for free weight and lifting areas. Agility Turf added a dedicated lane for movement testing, sled work and multidirectional drills, all essential for assessing running mechanics. Storage solutions, exercise mats and an organised layout keep the clinic efficient and ready for heavy daily use.

To maximise function within a tight footprint, Custom Branded 3 Series Nexus Compact Racks were installed, giving the clinic full strength training capacity without overwhelming the space. An ISO Pull Rack and Smith Machine were added to support controlled lifting during specific injury timelines, complemented by Adjustable Benches, HD Bumpers, HD Change Plates, Hex Dumbbells and Belfast Bars.

A core part of the build was integrating conditioning tools that allow clinicians to manage impact and intensity at every stage of rehab. The Concept 2 Rower, SkiErg and Wattbike AirPro offer low impact options with controlled load progressions, helping runners rebuild fitness before returning to full training volume.

Lower body development is central to running rehab, so the build also includes a Bilateral Leg Press and GHD for targeted posterior chain and single leg work.

The Result

The Running Room Physiotherapy Battersea now has a training and rehabilitation space that reflects its values and clinical expertise. Designed with innovation, attention to detail and smart use of space, the environment supports the team in delivering the highest level of care through reliable, tailored programmes that help runners and active individuals recover, perform and stay injury free.

This build reflects the BLK BOX approach to creating purposeful, durable and efficient spaces that allow practitioners to deliver their best work.
