ATHX Buying Guide 2026

ATHX is growing fast, and gyms that support it can offer members a clear route to building strength, power and endurance. Creating a space that supports these demands means choosing equipment that is durable, versatile and able to handle high traffic use.

Each zone challenges different physical qualities, so a well planned kit list allows gyms to create zones that mirror competition demands while keeping sessions varied and engaging.

Shop the exact equipment used on the competition floor.

Max Strength Zone

0 to 6 minutes: 1RM Strict Press

6 to 12 minutes: 3RM Back Squat

12 to 18 minutes: 5RM Deadlift

Exact Equipment Used

1 Series Full Rack or 3 Series Free Standing Rigs

The right choice depends on available space and footfall. A 1 Series Full Rack suits smaller facilities where space efficiency is key, while the 3 Series Free Standing Rig suits larger gyms with higher member volume or ATHX class formats. Both are stable, durable and built to handle heavy daily use, with the 3 Series offering multiple lifting stations for peak times.

Belfast Bars

A versatile, high spec barbell available in 15 kg and 20 kg options. Engineered for durability and smooth performance, the Belfast Bar is built to withstand frequent loading cycles and is trusted by athletes and coaches for both strength work and mixed training environments.

HD Bumper Plates

Shock absorbing, long lasting and designed for repeated drops throughout the day. These virgin rubber plates offer minimal bounce for improved control and equipment protection. Built to endure high volume use, they have been drop tested to 50,000 impacts to ensure reliability over time.

The GripX bevelled edge with subtle knurling provides secure handling while loading and unloading, reducing the chance of slips during fast paced training sessions or busy classes.

Lock Jaw Collars

A staple for any strength zone. BLK BOX Lock Jaw Collars provide a firm, reliable hold for all BLK BOX bars. Easy to apply and remove, they keep plates securely fixed so members can lift with confidence every time.

Why gyms need it

Strength development sits at the core of ATHX preparation. Reliable racks, high quality bars and durable bumper plates create a safe, efficient lifting area that supports progression and consistency. When athletes trust the equipment beneath them, they train harder, recover faster and build strength with confidence.

Conditioning Zone

Teams: One member runs while the other rows

Individuals: Alternating run and row

Exact Equipment Used

Concept2 Rowers

Industry standard for conditioning work. Known for accuracy, smooth resistance and build quality that stands up to heavy daily use. Ideal for repeated intervals, team formats and high volume sessions common in ATHX training.

Woodway 4Front Tread

Although ATHX running takes place outdoors, the Woodway 4Front offers an excellent alternative when outdoor space is limited or weather conditions are challenging. Designed to replicate the natural feel of running outside, it provides a smooth, low impact experience that reduces joint stress without compromising speed or power output.

Why gyms need it

Rowing and running prepare athletes for aerobic power and repeatable effort under fatigue, both core demands of ATHX competition. Concept2 rowers provide consistent data and reliability for measurable progress, while the Woodway allows facilities to maintain run based conditioning year round without relying on outdoor space. Together, they create a conditioning zone that is scalable, durable and easy to programme for both classes and open gym use.

A soft foam core reduces risk of shin impact without compromising stability. Tough, durable and confidence boosting for box jump overs, reactive power drills and fast cycle movements.
