Battle Cancer Takes On Belfast

Battle Cancer Takes On Belfast

Battle Cancer Belfast, 28th August, BLK BOX

Our partners Battle Cancer visited our HQ last month to plan their fundraising event which will be hosted at our new HQ on 28th August. Battle Cancer events present a unique team-based experience for people looking to make a difference and kick cancer to the dust. The Battle Cancer team gave us a taste of what to expect on the day. The team thoroughly enjoyed the workout and it's got us excited for the event.

Teams of 4 can be made up of all female, all male, or mixed, and the challenge consists of four fun and accessible 9 minute workouts. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, regular gym-goer or brave beginner, you can take part.

Like all Battle Cancer events, we expect there to be an amazing atmosphere on the day with live DJ, BBQ, fancy dress, homemade signs and most importantly, cheering crowds to help you through the workouts and encourage you to give it your all. Think sports day, but for adults.

The Workouts

The point of a Battle Cancer event is to raise as much as possible for your chosen cancer charity. This year, the first workout is a fundraising AMRAP - as much raised as possible - and will be your first score on the leader board. Fundraising totals are submitted at registration, so the more you fundraise before the event, the higher you’ll place at the start.

The workouts will consist of a mix of bodyweight movements and simple equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and sandbags which we will provide on the day. Standard weight for men/women will be: Kettlebell 20kg/12kg , Dumbbell 20kg/12.5kg and bumper plates 20kg/10kg.

Alternative movements for those with adaptions or restricted movements will be available too, making the workouts suitable for everyone. All workouts will be completed outdoors and will be compliant with any COVID-19 measures at the time of event.

Get involved

Fundraising for cancer charities this year is more important than ever as many fundraising events have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Battle Cancer events would not happen without an incredible team of volunteers and judges. If competing isn't for you, you can still get involved on the day and donate your time to helping run the event while earning a free Battle Cancer t-shirt, food and drink and more.

The Battle Cancer team are holding events across the UK, Germany and France so if Belfast isn't local to you, there may be another one closer to home. Click here to view all Battle Cancer events or click the button below to register for Battle Cancer Belfast.
