What a year for CrossFit Athlete, Emma McQuaid

BLK BOX Athlete Emma McQuaid never fails to impress, and we are delighted for her to have placed 9th at the Rogue Invitational in Texas at the weekend, amongst a field of star-studded athletes, what a finish to the year! 

Over the weekend (29-31 October) 40 of the greatest CrossFit athletes in the world gathered in Austin, TX, to take part in the 2021 Rogue Invitational. This year the event saw newer blood and established legends battle it out across 3 days in 7 different events. Each workout designed to test the athletes strength, grit, and willpower.

 3 Days -  7 Events

Event 1 – Go Ruck

(wearing a GORUCK pack (30/20):

  • Wheelbarrow pull to Zeus
  • 10 Over-under log on Zeus
  • 5 Rope Climbs
  • 3 Sandbags to hilltop (50/35)
  • 5 Rope Climbs
  • 10 Over-under log on Zeus
  • Wheelbarrow push to finish

Event 2 – Bella Complex

For max weight:

  • 1 Clean
  • 1 Shoulder to Overhead
  • 1 Front Squat 
  • 1 Shoulder to Overhead

Event 3 – Echo Burner

For time:

  • 20 Thrusters (115/75)
  • 40/32 Cal Echo Bike
  • 20 Thrusters (115/75)

Event 4 – Concept 2

Four rounds for time:

  • 21 Calorie Ski-Erg
  • 21 Med Ball GHD Sit-Ups (14/10)
  • Hill Run

Event 5 – The Mule

21-15-9 rep scheme of:

  • Deadlift (315/225)
  • Burpee Pull-Up

Event 6 – Chipper

For time

  • 45/40 Calorie Row
  • 35 Box Step-Ups with Feed Bag (24/20 and 70/50)
  • 30 Strict Handstand Push-Ups
  • 15 Ring Muscle-Ups
  • Jerry Can Carry (100/70)
  • 15 Ring Muscle-Ups
  • 30 Strict Handstand Push-Ups
  • 35 Box Step-Ups with Feed Bag (24/20 and 70/50)
  • 45/40 Calorie Row

Event 7 – The Duel

For time (90-second time cap):

  • 60 Double-Unders
  • 3 Squat Snatches (205/145)
  • 1 Sandbag Load to 48”/44” Platform (250/165)

 

The 2021 winners were crowned on Sunday, with reigning champ Tia-Clair Toomey and Justin Medeiros taking the top spots.

Last weekend finished a successful season for Emma being crowned 12th Fittest Woman on Earth at 'NOBULL CrossFit Games’ on August, 9th place at Rogue Invitational, not to forget the impressive display put on at BLK BOX Live.

We are already excited to see what 2022 has in store for Emma.
